How To: Undo Instagram's Photo Filter Magic with Normalize for iPhone

Undo Instagram's Photo Filter Magic with Normalize for iPhone

Tired of the Instagram wave? If you're sick of having to view the world through low-contrast and sepia-toned filters, there's a way to get them back to how they're supposed to look, and it's called Normalize, which undoes the magic filtering that Instagram and similar photo filter apps provide.

The process of un-Instagramming your (or anyone else's) photos with Normalize is perhaps easier than Instagramming them in the first place. All you need to do is copy and paste them into the app and watch it work its magic. There are no exposure or contrast sliders to fool with, or any other confusing enhancement tools for that matter. You just open or copy your photo in, then copy and save the restored image if you dig it.

And it should go without saying that this works for non-filtered pics, too. If you took a snapshot that looks a little yellow or too dark, Normalize will normalize it for you. It's the easiest way to bring your dull photographs back to life. It doesn't always give perfect results, but it does a decent job with most.

Normalize is available in the iTunes App Store for $0.99, a cheap price for something that is so freaking easy. You can download it for iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. No word on whether this will hit Android devices anytime soon, but I doubt it since the developer's older apps are iOS-only, too.

This isn't the only app that can restore dull or filtered pictures. There are others that aren't quite as button-less as Normalize, like Orasis and Perfectly Clear (iOS, Android), among many others.
