News: Apple's Newest Venture Is Unlike Anything It's Done Before

From the iPhone to the HomePod, Apple has revolutionized the tech industry. The company has changed the devices we use and how we use them, creating a new reality for all of us. As Apple continues to innovate, there's no guessing what the company will do. In fact, Apple's newest venture is possibly the most surprising one yet. With the hiring of two television executives from Sony, it appears that the tech giant is gearing up to take their phones and tablets back from Hulu, Netflix, and other streaming services.

Apple recently hired Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg, two top television executives at Sony. The duo will be responsible for Apple's worldwide video programming. Both Erlicht and Van Amburg are majorly responsible for numerous shows, including Shark Tank and Breaking Bad. The programming expertise they will bring from Sony Pictures Television should greatly aid any forays into television, or even just the development of video content. (Which fits nicely with music legend Jimmy Iovine's plans for Apple Music.)

Eddy Cue — Erlicht and Van Amburg's new boss — hinted that the addition of the two executives will benefit customers.

Jamie and Zack are two of the most talented TV executives in the world and have been instrumental in making this the golden age of television. We have exciting plans in store for customers and can't wait for them to bring their expertise to Apple — there is much more to come.

Let's hope Apple's future ventures into original content are more successful than its most recent one. So far, its newly released show called Planet of the Apps has received pretty lackluster reviews and is only available on Apple Music.

Despite utilizing a similar format as Shark Tank, the show isn't seeing similar success. I'm guessing that may be one of the first projects Erlicht and Vam Amburg will tackle.
